Safety & Security

Safety Management:

The introduction and subsequent updating of the Port Marine Safety Code has given ports and harbours the opportunity to revisit their safety management systems. We aim to look beyond the formal safety assessment and develop a risk based integrated management system to cover all aspects of a port’s Conservancy functions including the roles played by external service providers.

We are also able to act as Designated Person for Port Marine Safety Code Compliance and assist with Safety Management System audits.

Security:

We are accredited to provide Port Facility Security Officer training to ports and harbours throughout
the UK.

PFSO courses are facilitated by Captain Colin Pratt, a serving pilot in a major UK port (www.longscarmarine.co.uk).

Feedback from a recent PFSO course said of the three days -

“The content of the course was excellent as well as the presentation
by the lecturers each of whom had extensive practical knowledge
to enhance the theory”.

“ ..it was an excellent course made all the more interesting by the three
lecturers. I have attended many courses over the years and I always feel
that the anecdotal, personal experiences of people add great colour to
the theory and this was a strength of the course. Thanks for a great week.”
